Every Symbol in Word Has a Unique Code

Every symbol in Word has a unique code which you can use to insert the symbol into your document. This code is popularly known as Alt. By using the Alt code, you can insert any symbol, including the Delta symbol.

How to Insert the Delta Symbol in Word Using Alt Code

To insert the Delta symbol in Word using Alt code, follow these steps:

  1. Place the cursor at the location where you want to insert the Delta symbol.
  2. Hold down the Alt key.
  3. While holding down the Alt key, type the numbers 916 on the numeric keypad.
  4. Release the Alt key.

The Delta symbol (Δ) will be inserted into your document.

Other Methods to Insert the Delta Symbol in Word

In addition to using Alt code, there are several other methods to insert the Delta symbol in Word:

  • Symbol Dialog Box: Go to the "Insert" tab > "Symbols" > "Symbol" dialog box. In the "Font" drop-down list, select "Symbol." In the "Character code" field, enter "0394" and click "Insert."
  • Emoji Panel: If you are using Microsoft Word 2013 or later, you can use the Emoji Panel. Go to the "Insert" tab > "Emoji" to open the Emoji Panel. Type "Delta" in the search field and select the Delta symbol from the results.
  • Character Map: Open the Character Map utility (charmap.exe). In the "Font" drop-down list, select "Symbol." In the "Character" list, locate the Delta symbol and double-click on it. Click "Select" and then "Copy." Return to your Word document and press Ctrl+V to paste the Delta symbol.
